Never heard of Etsy?? Well let me tell you about it!  I discovered it when a seamstress/friend of mine told me she was going to start selling her custom belts there.  Well, of course, this princess HAD to check it out!

Etsy is an online one stop shop to buy and sell ONLY things hand made.  I have been buying the most adorable princess accessories, favors, invitations and have even found my wonderful glitter chocolate vendor there!

I have been having such great experiences with all of the creative men and women I have found.  Everyone is just so nice and as a children’s party company owner and event planner, I am ALWAYS looking for tiaras, wands, favor bags, gowns, you name it! I would much rather solicit someone to craft for me who has put their heart into something than buy something mass produced and shipped in.

My first lucky experience was with Laura of “Tickled Plum.” I found her when I was searching for someone to create invitations, favor tags, stickers, and other paper goods to help promote my brand.  Laura was FANTASTIC! She’s creative, professional and her quality is outstanding! She creates all of my invitations now for me and even adds embellishments like rhinestones, ribbon and other princess-ey things!! Her heavy stock paper and amazing attention to detail really makes her stand out from the rest. Thanks Laura ;)

Another diamond that I found is Denise, from “Iguanamakeit,” also an Etsy shop.  Denise, like Laura, was so excited about the business opportunity and  is such a pleasure to work with.  Denise also happens to be a fabulous quill-er (the art of paper rolling!) Denise creates sparkling, iridescent chocolates for my princess parties, spa parties, diva glamour parties and other custom events.  Her chocolates really stand out. She has a knack for really making them shine! She has everything from princess shoes (monogrammed!), tiara and ear ring sets, butterflies, glitter star wands, and more.  You have to see these in person~ She even has a chocolate makeup kit fully equipped with hair dryer and curlers!

Etsy, of course, is not just for girls that wear bubblegum pink gowns…it’s for everyone!  Let’s face it- We all LOVE hand made stuff and we love a personal touch.  You can even put out an “Alchemy Request” on Etsy if you want something made for YOU that you can’t find while searching for it.  I put in a request, for example, for a custom gown for me.  I put in the request, name my price, and wait for bids to come in!

There are so many talented people out there and there are so many people who are looking for that creative talent.  Etsy has allowed us to find each other.   So while I continue to provide upscale birthday parties and events for children, teens and tweens in the Massachusetts area, I always am on the hunt for great products for my online boutique currently filled with custom children’s clothing, accessories, party favors, chocolates and invitations.

In the New Year I will be offering Sweet 16 event planning, Bat Mitzfah, and Quinceanera’s fit for a princess!  I can’t wait to start shopping around for amazing items created by my fellow “Etsy-ans!”

Princess Sharon is now introducing fully customized events!  Where we once specialized in specific party themes such as Musical Princess Tea, Diva Glam, and Spa parties, we are now expanding our repertoire to include TONS of fun new items and ideas.  While always adhering, of course, to our music and educational focus, glitter, glamour and upscale feel, we felt that it would be super fun to be able to really base each event on the child’s interests and desires.

My latest event was held in Weston, Massachusetts, and was a totally customized twist to a traditional Princess Sharon Musical Princess Tea.  We had all of the usual royal items such as ballgowns, face painting, music session, satin chair covers, sashes and linens, china, table coaches, and custom Princess Sharon invitations, but we also added some really special items to make this an over-the-top, one of a kind event.  The party was to be a grand event.  The client, last minute, decided to fly in her family for the event and wanted to invite 28 children.  We had extra gowns, plenty of pirate costumes for all of the boys, and we event had Pirate Pete there to help entertain all of the guests!  We decided that custom hand-decorated cookies were the way to go.   They were shaped like princess dresses, shoes, crowns, and pirate flags for the boys! We had princess teddy bears for each girl, pirate costume favors for all of the boys, and treasure maps for them to find the hidden treasures!

Each of the three child sized tables was adorned with gorgeous floral arrangements embellished with crystals, beads and the most amazing pink roses and mint green hydrangeas you have ever seen.  We also provided the tea party menu for our little guests.  Fresh fruit, cheeses, muffins, pink lemonade “tea” and of course, the most fabulous cupcakes!!  Our fondant topped, over sized bubble gum pink cupcakes were a hit! Each cake was wrapped with organza ribbon and topped off with a little silver flower and a giant pink rose.

The children were as sweet as candy and seemed to have a really wonderful time at this magical event.  Am I the luckiest princess?? :D

You’re wrong!  The Upstairs On the Square restaurant in Cambridge, Massachusetts is where I held my most recent custom 11th birthday party event.  And let me tell you, the room was pink when we arrived, but of course, we transformed the room into a glittery, pink, girly explosion! think when I walked into the restaurant I had died and gone to princess heaven!  In my wildest dreams I could never have pictured a more perfect spot for a Princess Sharon event!  When I first walked in, I’m not kidding, my heart almost stopped! The walls of this amazing restaurant were covered in hot pink, light pink, lavendar, and lime green plaid with gold leaf, and the floors…oh my goodness, the floors! They were zebra striped downstairs and Cheetah winding all the way up.  It was worth the climb to get to the totally pink and plaid “Soire” room on the top floor.  The walls sparkled, the food was absolutely spectacular, and the staff…the wonderful staff.  Wish I could have taken them with me!

It all started when a mom living in Chestnut Hill Mass called me and told me that they were going to reserve a room at the “Upstairs” and that the their daughter wanted to have a “Legally Blonde” or “Pretty & Pink” custom event to celebrate her 11th birthday. Immidiately my mind started racing with all kids of “Elle Woods” themed ideas!!  “Pink Resume” games, make your own purses, glitter toes, spa robes, professional makeup artists, professional hair dressers, custom chocolates, and pocket book cakes made of fondant!  My Musical Princess, Spa, and Diva Glam events were going to be abandoned for one day to create something different. I had my invitation designer create custom invitations that looked like purses with feather handles, and we mailed them to each guest in a box!  We also created cheetah gift purses for everyone filled with bubble bath, lip gloss, candies and more girly fun items.

This was truly a magical time, and I hope to get to work with the “Upstairs” again.  The girls were so  sweet and kind to everyone and I think the guests and guest of honor alike really appreciated the heart felt time and energy that went into planning this event.  What a fantastic, elegant, hip spot the “Upstairs” was- just perfect! This custom Princess Sharon event was such a blast and I hope to do this theme again…Legally Blonde, anyone?? :D

I came across a super fantastic site while I was surfing…probably looking for the usual princess garb–tiaras, wands, mass quantities of princess shoes– you know. The usual.

Anyway, I fell upon this great blog site (www.massachusettsmom.blogspot.com) that deals with moms, kids, parents, and other really cool stuff around New England.  Anne-Marie Dorning, a mother of two girls,  journalist, and award winning producer for Good Morning America and ABC News, blogs regularly about all kinds of neat websites, news, parenting issues, and recently posted a blog about my Princess parties and other events.  You can visit the article here

Anne-Marie has been blogging for about a year now and her blog site is doing so well that she is starting a new site called “New England Moms.” She writes about things that interest her, and she tries to have a local angle whenever possible. She also told me that she loves to hear from moms and get comments on the site.  I absolutely love her writing style!  She is funny, informative, and as a mother of two myself, I always am in need a few tips! See one of Anne-Marie’s blogs about the cereal we’re feeding our children! You’ll be astounded. Follow the link to Consumer Reports.

I am impressed with everything she is doing –two girls, blogs, websites, and a TV producer!  You have to check it out for yourself- it has some excellent tips, tricks and info– I can’t wait to see the new website!  We’ll keep you posted on it’s launch…

I think the reason I love my Spa-Berry Twist party so much is because there is NOTHING better than relaxing with friends and seeing the girls come right out of their shells!  I love seeing girls get together and start off shy and unsure and by 10 minutes into the party they really start to warm up to each other and have such fun.

I’m such a believer in using every possible opportunity to teach at my parties.  I want the girls to see me as a friend, someone they can trust.  I gain their trust by respecting them!  Yes, respect.  This is so important to children–that they feel important and validated. These girls, “tweens” they are called, are at a place where they want to be heard…well, here I am!  I have found that music is what makes the heart sing and what moves the soul, so I hit’em up with song/poem game immediately!  It’s hard to explain (you kinda’ have to see it) but everyone really comes together then. I can see their inhibitions melt away and they really come alive.  That’s the goal, to bring out the best in each one of them, make them feel special, and heard.  They also get to lick the face off of a candy watch to signify the fact that we are forgetting about clocks and time for a moment and just having a good time! Then they all stick out their (blue) tongues and laugh, laugh, laugh…another ‘good for the soul’ activity!!

There are so many things to learn at a spa party! It’s not just all about glitter, nails, mags, and facials (though we all LOVE them!) but I make sure that each party encorporates lessons about self-care, socialization, and just how to have fun!  It’s virtually impossible to have fun if you feel like you can’t be yourself (trust me, I know).  I want each girl to feel like she can be just who she is, express her thoughts and feel a part of the group.

So….respect is key, music opens up the heart, and a little glitter on the toes never hurt anyone!! ;D

We are proud to announce our new line of clothing called “Cupcake Couture.” This clothing is custom made to order and can be monogrammed to your specs! We have a gazillion different fonts to chose from and we have everything from swing tops, to bloomers, to monogrammed hair bows, socks, and women’s handbags! Each piece I have named after a special girl or woman in my life. Friends, children, aunties, sisters, you name it! My very special friend, Christine, is battling breast cancer and I decided that the most gorgeous bag in my store would be named “Christine’s Hope-N-Healing Handbag.”  You can purchase this bag right on my site.   The best thing about this bag is that it’s reversible!  It’s bold pattern and high quality material give it a one-of-a-kind look.  Look for more posts highlighting our children’s clothing and costumes!

So FINALLY I have some of my gorgeous girl’s princess gowns up in my store! Amongst other beautiful frocks is my absolute fave…the light blue “sparkle” gown which, to me, looks like one giant yummy cupcake! I have been waiting for my site to be completed before I was able to load in all of my gowns up.  People ask me all the time where I get my gowns and how THEY can have them.  Well they are here!  Every princess deserves a gown to twirl in where the poofs stay…well.. poofed, and the flowers stay put! All of my gowns are made to last a lifetime.  I use them at my events and I can’t say enough about them.  I was tired of the itchy, low quality gowns that lost their ribbons and gems way to early in the game.  So now I can offer them to my clients and also to the world of boutique shoppers!

I hope you love them as much as I have.  Some of them even come with matching accessories like headbands, purses, and stoles! Too fun!!! :D  Here is another one of my faves.  Layer after layer of soft tulle and gold…we love gold!!!!
